Islamic loans can help with large home maintenance expenses

Islamic finance is there to help when you purchase a home or when you need to deal with various home related expenses. Right now is a good time to take advantage of cool, sunny days to prepare your home for the colder weather. Here are a few inexpensive, DIY winter maintenance steps that will help lower utility bills and protect your equity.

Caulk around windows to minimize drafts and keep heat in. Silicone caulk is best for exterior frames because it stands up to the elements and will not shrink. If you can see daylight from inside your home around doors, you need to apply weatherstripping too.

Disconnect garden hoses and drain water from outside faucets. Undrained water can freeze causing pipes to burst. Also, make sure to turn off the shut-off valve located inside your home.

Check the roof. Shingles that are loose or missing need to be repaired to avoid leaks from melting snow or during winter storms. Don’t forget about the gutters. Gutters full of leaves and other debris need to be cleaned, otherwise, they can back up causing leaks and damage to the roof, siding and trim around your house. Add extensions to downspouts to make sure water runs off at least three to four feet away from your home’s foundation.

Remember, if you need to rely on experts to help you deal with larger winter home maintenance projects, Sharia compliant Islamic loans can help.
