Check out these tips for selecting a neighborhood

Buying a home is a big deal and Islamic finance can get you started on the right path, but these Islamic loans are only the starting point. Even selecting the location you want can be daunting unless you have a few helpful tips to get started off on the right foot.

  1. Decide what kind of family you want to have. If you plan on having children, living near a good school system is the best idea. If your family already has children, having a park and community center close by is another definite advantage. No kids? Having a school close to your new home buying a homestill raises the value when you go to sell.
  2. How far do you want to commute to work? Mass transit is an option if you work in an urban center. Other people might need to consider the added cost of a car and the insurance and gas if they are looking at a place they’ll need to drive from.

Finally, you need to ask yourself how important it is to be within walking distance to the local amenities. Are there restaurants and shopping close by or will you need to get on the subway? Some urban centers can have lots of late night noise if you buy a home near a college.
